Pyramid Catering's Open House

I had the pleasure of attending Pyramid Catering's tasting at the Knights of Columbus Building in Seattle with my assistant Emily M, and let me just say Ben knows what he's doing with food. I have been to a LOT of tastings and this one was by far one of the best. It had great ambiance, the building and room are both beautiful, a hosted bar, great flowers by LaVasser Florists, Abbey Party Rents provided rentals, and they always have great stuff. It was extremely fun getting to know the other vendors, I had not met Joanne at LaVasser before and she was really nice! We looked at eachothers portfolios, talked shop, and I honestly hope to work with her in the future. I actually met Emily and her crew from Abbey Rents in person, which was amazing since I have talked to her on the phone and through email countless times. It was pretty amazing we had 3 Emilys, I have never been in the same room with so many Emilys!

Everything was tasty, but here are my absolute to die for favorites of the evening:

Ahi Spoon Seared Ahi Tuna served on tropical fruit salsa with wasabi drizzle~ this was SO good, served  in my favorite asian soup spoons, I sucked down 3, you have to try this, it's delicious!

Spanikopita Phyllo stuffed with spinach, feta and fresh oregano~ these were so good, crispy, flaky, flavorful.

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms with fresh herbs, spinach, and asiago cheese~ these were the best stuffed mushrooms I have EVER had, and my brother Aaron makes some mean stuffed mushrooms (sorry Aaron Ben is giving you a run for your money).

Smoked Salmon Bottoms salmon mousse, capers, lemon zest, and red onions stuffed into a grilled artichoke bottom~ I must say I was not 100% on trying this, but I am so glad I did, it was great, sounds like an odd combo, but it goes great together!

Ben's presentation was amazing, the hot food was hot, the cold food stayed cold, everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. He did an amazing job!

Snohomish's hidden gem

I have not been to the Chapel on Swan’s Trail for years; not until today anyways. I had the pleasure of meeting the new owner Lynn today. She is so so so sweet. The Chapel and grounds look better than they ever have, so good that I signed a contract to have MY wedding there on the spot. For those of you who have not seen the chapel I highly recommend that you take a peek, I really recommend it as a wedding venue. It seats 120 in the chapel, probably 75 comfortably in the dining hall. Although plenty can fit outside!

Lynn provides a tent April though Sept, they have an amazing garden and gazebo in the back. This is truly the perfect indoor or outdoor venue. I am surprised it’s not overly booked, I was shocked actually, I almost ran inside ready to elbow any bride inquiring about my date. I know all the other chapel’s in Snohomish are booked, and this one is just as nice if not nicer. I don’t know if it’s lack of advertising, or a bad wrap from precious ownership, but this place is truly a hidden gem in Snohomish, I wish I was getting married twice so I could enjoy a beautiful garden ceremony as well as the intimate candlelight winter ceremony we have planned.

Lynn is really flexible and you can decorate the chapel pretty much any way you want. They supply tables, chairs, linens and can even do your flower arrangements etc… Liquor is ok (as long as you have a permit of course) and you can choose any caterer you want or self cater as well. Amplified Music is fine (until 10pm). They really want your ceremony to be your own, and Lynn is so easy going, this venue is definitely not a "nightmare" when it comes to working with management.

I love this place so much that if you book your wedding here I will give you 50% off any of my packages, that’s right folks 50% off (fine print: cannot be combined with any other discount). This chapel is great, Lynn has worked SO hard to get it in great shape, I love the way it smells, the way it looks, and I would love to do weddings here, so go check it out!

Mad love for my vendors!

I am completely overwhelmed, grateful and have stopped crying long enough to write this. I have been caring for a terminally ill family member and financially it was making having my wedding impossible, although I am grateful that I am able to care for her. After a lot of disappointment I was ready to cancel and somewhat resigned to the fact that I would not be having a wedding in October. However I am blessed with the BEST employees and the BEST wedding community here in Seattle. My assistant’s got together with my vendors and they have given me the amazing gift of a phenomenal wedding. So here are my very public shameless endorsements in alphabetical order!

Thank you all so much, you are giving me such a gift and Eric and I are indebted to you all! I was not expecting this at all, I would have been much too proud to ever even consider asking for help from our community. I am honored to work with you guys on a  regular basis and look forward to an amazing wedding and an amazing upcoming season working with you all!

Shannon and Karen are absolutely amazing. If I woke up looking like Fiona from Shrek these two could transform me into a supermodel by lunch time. I have had nothing but overly impressed brides!

Clane is so talented, I have admired his work since randomly stumbling across his info on a wedding website last year. His pictures are truly artwork not just “pictures”. Everytime I look at his gallery I am impressed and I am truly lucky that he will be my wedding photographer!

I love love love this group! I am a huge fan of strings and they are very talented. They are so easy to work with and I am so happy they will be performing at my wedding. I have only been working with them for one wedding season and they were by far one of my “best finds”!

I love Jenny! My brides love Jenny, what’s not to love about Jenny? She is very talented, sweet, easy to work with and makes you feel really comfortable. I love her fun style and she is perfect to be doing our engagement pics!

I love Kelli’s cakes, they always look amazing, taste amazing and exceed my expectations, which trust me is no easy feat! Kelli is so easy to work with and I am so lucky to have her as a preferred vendor!

I adore Sharon; she does almost all of my weddings. She is so talented, creative and has an awesome personality to boot. Her flowers always look amazing (just look at her portfolio). She is really easy to work with and I would not have anyone else do my flowers!
